MAJULAH SINGAPURA: Singapore General Election 2015
This year, Singapore celebrates its 50th year of independence, and now the nation gears up for the General Elections to determine its future leaders.
With all 89 seats in the 29 electoral divisions being contested, this also makes it Singapore's most hotly contested general election since 1965. It saw the return of Singapore Democratic Party chief Chee Soon Juan after sitting out the past two elections due to bankruptcy, and staggering turnouts at the Worker's Party's rallies compared to the men in white.
The election was held on 11 September 2015.
The People's Action Party — led by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong — won 69.86% of the contested seats.
But the ruling party still failed to win the hearts of the people at The Worker's Party's stronghold, Aljunied GRC.
